What is Gre Exam :

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE Exam) is a Entrance Exam created for students who are applying for post graduation in the US and Abroad.GRE Exam is held by the Educational Trust Service (ETS).This Exam is used to get admissions in various international graduate schools or business graduate schools in abroad and other countries like the United States. GRE Exam is a standardized exam for getting admissions into graduate school in the US. Cracking the GRE Exam is must for the students aspiring for Masters or PhD in several universities in theUS.

Each year, More than 675,000 graduates and business school applicants from more than 160 countries take the GRE test. ETS revised GRE exams in 2011 and divided it intothree sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Research. In the US there is a trend to take the GRE Exam via computers, but in othercountries, it is taken with pen and paper.

  1. Identity proof Document is required. GRE ExamCandidates can not use documents (international driving license, birth certificate etc.) an alternate identity proof. ETC GRE Exam Board is very strict about this.
  2. No age limit is yet specified by ETS for taking up Graduate Record Examination.

Duration of  GRE Exam?

    • Total Questions: 82 Questions
    • Verbal Reasoning: 20 questions each and Two 30 minute sections,
    • Quantitative Reasoning: 20 questions each and Two 35 minute sections
    • Analytical Writing:  “Analyze an Issue” and “Analyze an Argument” and Two 45 minute sections
    • Total Time: The computer-delivered GRE takes 220 minutes for the average student

GRE Exam Pattern :

Test content: GRE Exam Patterns will be in two types, first is Paper Based and second is Computer Based. The  revised GRE Exam is divided into three parts:

        1. Analytical Writing: Two essays- 1.Analyze an Issue 2. Analyze an Argument. In the first Essay, candidates requires to write his/her perspective on an issue. In the second Essay Candidate have to give an analysis of an argument. This section examines the ability of candidates to elaborate ideas, analyze supporting evidence and write the English language correctly. (Two separately essays in 45 Minutes).
        2. Verbal Reasoning: There are mostly multiple choice questions in the verbal reasoning section which test the ability of candidates on writing materials, recognize relationships between words & concepts and to writing skills of relationships between different parts of sentences. (20 questions each and Two 30 minute sections.)
        3. Quantitative Reasoning: This section is mainly on high school level math.There are mostly multiple choice questions in the Quantitative reasoning section which test the ability of candidates on basic concepts of algebra, arithmetic, data analysis, geometry  and reason numerically. (20 questions each and Two 35 minute sections.)

  How to register for GRE exam :

Online Process :

  • Step 1: Candidate must have to create an account with ETS
  • Step 2: Pay online fee of GRE Exam by American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard® or VISA® credit/debit card or a netbanking.
  • Step 3: If you are applying with a paper check or money order, you will have to request an Authorization Voucher by mail.
  • The test center address and the reporting time will be mailed to you shortly.

By Phone :

  • Step 1: Pay online fee of GRE Exam by American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard® or VISA® credit/debit card or a netbanking.
  • Step 2: Call the GRE test center directly at 1-443-751-4820 or 1-800-473-2255.
  • Step 3: When you call, You will receive a confirmation number, reporting time and the test center.

By Mail:

  • Step 1: Download the International Test Scheduling Form here . Fill all the details  in the blanks correctly.
  • Step 2: Prepare a dollar Demand Draft (DD) of 220$ in favour of ETS-GRE from any nationalized bank.

Details of GRE (Graduate Record Examination) :

Target audience: graduate students across all countries.

Required by: Graduate and Business schools and departments.

Purpose: GRE The Graduate Record Examination (GRE Exam) is a Entrance Exam created for students who are applying for post graduation in the US and Abroad.GRE test is held by the Educational Trust Service (ETS).GRE Exam is used to get admissions in various international graduate schools or business graduate schools in abroad and other countries like the United States. GRE Exam is a standardized exam for getting admissions into graduate school in the US. Cracking the GRE Exam is must for the students aspiring for Masters or PhD in several universities in the US.

Duration: 220 minutes it is around three hours and 45 minutes (six sections with a 10-minute break after the third).

Scoring: Candidates receive a score for each section. Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning are measured on a scale of 130-170, in 1-point increments. Analytical writing is scored on a scale of 0-6, in half-point increments. You cannot pass or fail the GRE, but universities and departments may require applicants to achieve a specific score. If you are unhappy with your score you can re-sit the test (a maximum of five times over a 12 month period).

When sending score cards to admissions departments, candidates can now choose whether to include only their most recent score, or all scores from the previous five years. Candidates may choose up to four institutions to send score reports to, or more for an extra fee. Results can be cancelled immediately on completing the test.

Valid for: Five years

Points to note: The GRE is only delivered in English. A paper-based version is offered at centers where the computer-based test cannot be delivered. Candidates sitting this version are allowed slightly longer for the Verbal and Quantitative sections.
